The rescue forces of the volunteer fire departments from Reinfeld and Bad Oldesloe as well as the L\u00fcbeck fire department were trained in April \/ May to be prepared for an operation on the eHighway in case of emergency. If necessary, they can arrange for the system to be shut down at any time or even do it themselves. To this end, the fire departments are being equipped with voltage testers, among other things, which are being built specifically for the eHighway in Schleswig-Holstein.<br \/>Incidentally, during the practical part of the training sessions, the mere fact of the fire trucks stopping in the construction zone led to miles of gridlocked traffic.<br \/>Police, highway maintenance workers and recovery companies were also informed about the specifics of the system and the resulting changes in their respective operations.<br \/>The eHighway&#8217;s system is otherwise comparable to the technology used in streetcars and trolleybuses: it operates on low voltage in the range of 670 volts DC and has safety technology that triggers an automatic system shutdown if anything abnormal is detected. In addition, the test track is permanently monitored by a switching station.
