Maintenance
EHIGHWAY. In May, Forschungs- und Entwicklungszentrum FH Kiel GmbH and Nahverkehr Schwerin GmbH again carried out maintenance work on the approximately five-kilometer eHighway test track between Reinfeld and Lübeck. During these semi-annual maintenance checks, among other things, the condition of the catenary as well as that of the masts, booms, attachments, switches and control cabinets are inspected and checked.
In addition, scientific measuring equipment is usually prepared, installed or maintained as part of the maintenance. In this case, Siemens and TU Dresden visited the work in the nights before Ascension Day.
The schedule for the maintenance work is regularly determined in close coordination with Autobahn GmbH and the police; normally, it is carried out in the weeks after the Easter vacations and before or after the fall vacations, and always at night, in order to disrupt traffic as little as possible. This time, however, the maintenance work had to be postponed at short notice due to the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. For the safety of the participants of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting at the Baltic Sea, no construction work was permitted on the A1 from May 12 to May 14.
