FESH visits the environmental committee of the town of Reinfeld
REINFELD. Yesterday evening, the Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (MEKUN) visited the town of Reinfeld together with the Research and Development Center of Kiel University of Applied Sciences to talk about the eHighway Schleswig-Holstein.
FESH was a guest at the meeting of Reinfeld’s Committee for Urban Development, Environment and Transport to present the project status as well as the current developments and prospects of the technology to the committee members and interested residents.
This was followed by a lively discussion about the possible path decisions for decarbonizing heavy goods traffic.
The accompanying research highlighted in particular the significant increase in electricity consumption from the overhead line.
With an overhead line route share of 20%, the overhead line hybrid trucks can now save around 57% greenhouse gas emissions compared to a conventional diesel truck.
This shows that the vehicle variants with built-in diesel drive are suitable for achieving high savings in GHG emissions as a bridging technology.
Meanwhile, the scheduled end of FESH funding on December 31, 2024 is approaching.
The Federal Ministry of Transport reserves the right to evaluate a possible expansion of overhead line infrastructure at the end of this year.
